
The entire tattoo community has been hit after the death’s of two legends one day apart.
Fans mourn the deaths of the “father of modern tattooing” San Francisco’s Lyle Tuttle who died in his sleep at age 87 on March 25, 2019, and on March 26 the Japanese superstar tattooist “Miami Ink’s” Yoji Harada died at age 46.
The tattoo world came out in force on social media to tribute the two legends.
Lucky Clover Tattoo, Harada’s place of employment wrote on social media that they got the horrible news that Harada died. Everybody is broke. In the past few weeks, he had a fantastic time with him. Everybody at Lucky Clover wishes his friends and family strength to get through this.
The legendary Tommy Montoya wrote back to back posts on Instagram saluting Tuttle and Harada.
After Tuttle’s death, he wrote: “RIP Lyle you are one of the greats of tattoos.” The very next day, he wrote another tribute. Montoya wrote: “Another great friend is gone! It is so very sad. RIP Yoji.”
Tuttle was recognized across the United States as one of the most important tattooists of all time. With over 70 years in the business, celebrities flocked to him for the perfect tat working on Janis Joplin, Cher, Henry Fonda, Joan Baez, the Allman Brothers, and Paul Stanley.
Harada, best known as the star of the smash television reality show “Miami Ink” was known in the United States and Japan.
Two of the legends of the tattoo world are now gone. The Tattoo community mourns, and wonders, with things coming in threes, who will be next.
