Avicii
The family of Swedish DJ Tim Bergling, otherwise known as Avicii who committed suicide on April 20, 2018, in Oman are planning on releasing a posthumous tribute album to him.

Avicii was known to have suffered from depression, drug abuse, and stress which is thought contributed to his death at 28 years old.

Before his death, Avicci was working on his third album, which was close to completion.

The DJ’s family says he has left behind a beautiful collection of songs he almost finished, along with his notes, multiple conversations by email, and messages he texted related to music.

Music executives from Universal Music, Avicii’s label, have asked those who regularly contributed with the artist to participate in the project rather than asking big names.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin will be the highest-profile artist on the album. He had worked with Avicii in the past, and he was invited to lend his vocals to a song entitled “Heaven.”

The new album has been described as exploring the songs of “Arabian music, psychedelia, and will have a Caribbean sound.”

Johnny Tennander of Sony/ATV, Avicii’s publisher, said the lyrics of the left behind songs showed the artist’s growth as a writer. He said that the album felt very personal and coherent.

After his suicide, the DJ’s family began the Tim Berling Foundation to support suicide prevention and mental health.

The first single “SOS” will drop on April 10, sung by Soul singer Aloe Blacc. Universal will release the album on June 6.
