Jagger

Sources tell Billboard Magazine that Mick Jagger, lead singer of the Rolling Stones had a heart valve surgery in New York and is doing well.

Surgeons accessed Jagger’s heart valve through the femoral artery, and are monitoring him for complications which may arise after the procedure was completed. This could include excessive bleeding.

The Rolling Stones announced on March 31, 2019, that they had to postpone their “No Filter Tour” scheduled for North America so Jagger could undergo the medical procedure. The Stone said they would reschedule the tour.

The tour was initially set to begin in April 2019. The tour will now start in July. Within the upcoming weeks, new dates will be announced.

Sources say Jagger’s procedure was called transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and will require rest. The procedure is minimally invasive, and if successful, Jagger will not have to undergo major heart surgery.

The procedure itself permits surgeons to repair the valve of the heart by using a catheter which accesses the major artery without having to open the entire chest.

Jagger’s recovery time would be shorter for this procedure than surgery, and the singer must be on bed rest for four to five days. This will help the artery heal without severe bleeding.

Jagger can move after that, but he will still require additional time to recover before being able to take the stage and perform.

The Stones expect to make up their tour dates. However, the will not as planned performance at the New
Orleans Jazz Fest. It was announced Fleetwood Mac would fill in for the band.
