Pamela Smart the 51-year-old murder is asking the New Hampshire governor to commute her sentence for life and make her parole eligible.

Smart has a life without parole sentence for convincing her teenage student lover in 1990 to murder her husband.

Smart sent a document which was 695 pages entitled “Without executive intervention, I will die in prison” to Gov. Chris Sununu asking for his mercy and claiming she was innocent.

She stated: “Dear Governor Sununu, I am writing this to you asking for your compassion and mercy. When I was a 22-year-old, I made one of the worst mistakes of my entire life.”

Smart had a sexual relationship with Bill Flynn, a high school student in New Hampshire.

Smart denied encouraging Flynn and two of his friends to shoot her husband 24-year-old Gregg, and insurance salesman inside their condo in Derry, New Hampshire.

Paul Maggiotto, defense attorney for New Hampshire who was the prosecutor of the case believes Smart does not deserve a pardon.

He said:

Nobody who has been convicted of first-degree murder in New Hampshire has received a pardon. Most people would agree, the first step to being granted a pardon is admitting one’s part in a crime. Smart has not done so.
