MarshmelloArtem Stoliarov who is better known as Arty is suing Marshmello claiming he ripped off Arty’s remix of “I Lived” performed by One Republic for his song “Happier.”

TMZ obtained documents. In it, Arty claims Marshmello’s melody for his hit song “Happier” is a copy of Arty’s remix of “I Lived.”

Specifically, Arty claims the four-bar synthesizer Marshmello used was ripped off from him.

Arty also alleges that Marshmello copied the order of the first 19 out of 20 notes. He goes along to say he knows Marshmello and performed ad the same gigs. He also claimed Marshello attended his show and saw him spin his “I Lived” remix.

Arty’s remix was released in 2014. It hit the Billboard Hot 100 charts at number 2 and remained on the charts for 35 weeks. The song also went twice multi-platinum and was chosen to be played in Nashville at the 2019 NFL Draft.

The song also has on YouTube almost 4 million plays.

Marshmello released “Happier” in 2018, and it exploded. It received 335 million views on YouTube.

Arty is suing Marshmello for infringement of copyright and other unspecified damages.
