
Google suffered a massive outage that prevented people from accessing Google Docs, Gmail, or watching videos on YouTube. Its services were out for about an hour, according to CNN on Dec. 14, 2020.
Most of their services came back on around 8 am ET. The outage caused Google Classroom to be unavailable to many students learning remotely. People also reported that smart home gadgets that use Google Assistant were also experiencing problems.
The company apologizes for the inconvenience and aprieciate your patience and support, the company stated.
Many people reported the clutch on social, which made #YouTubeDown trend.
Over 100,000 reported on DownDetector having problems using YouTube. Some people were able to visit the website without signing in. Downdetector is a service that registers complaints about unavailable internet services.
Tens of thousands of people were not able to use the website and its apps. Nest Hub smart display was not able to control a smart heater.
Although the outage affected numerous of its services, the search products continued to function, and third-party ads showed results. The worldwide outage caused issues in Japan, the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
In September, the company’s website was down for several hours. The company has been having a rough time with its services. Many people are having problems logging into their Gmail accounts and other apps. The company is working on restoring the apps.
