A political star is rising from the Great Lakes region of America. Gretchen Whitmer was raised in Michigan, became a lawyer, an educator, a prosecutor, and a state representative and senator before becoming its Democratic Governor in 2018. She was easily reelected in 2022, and with her victory came narrow margins for Democratic victories in the state house and senate.

A Democrat Saves Lives As Trump Allows a Growing Number of Deaths

When Trump failed to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Whitmer took measures to protect those of the people of Michigan. Trump responded by attacking her efforts and calling her “Gretchen ‘Half’ Whitmer, or “That Woman from Michigan.” Recently Whitmer had a T-shirt made with the latter name, and then shortened it to “That Woman.” It has become her “badge of honor.”

Moving Michigan Forward

With the added power of a progressive legislature, her agenda for the next four years has become more ambitious. She has already repealed the “right to work” law. This law prevented a “closed shop rule. Now the majority will decide if everyone is required to join a union, increasing the power in negotiations between companies and their representatives.

Coming next is a law which will help save lives from mass shootings by domestic terrorists. The bill will require “universal background checks, safe storage, and extreme risk protection orders.”

Another proposal will protect a woman’s right to obtain a legal abortion in the state of Michigan.

A Working Governor

Governor Whitmer had this to say following the arrest and conviction of the men who planned to abduct and kill her.

Whitmer said, “While I have really grown as a leader in the last four years, I have to get back to the table and negotiate budgets with people who have shared stages with plotters who wanted to kidnap and kill me. I still have to negotiate and get a budget done. Governors can’t just take positions, and we can’t throw, you know, bombs at the other side. We gotta get things done.”

A Presidential Hopeful?

In a recent interview with CBS, the Governor was asked about the possibility of a presidential run in 2024. She said that she plans to serve the four years given to her by voters last year.

Although President Biden claims that he will seek reelection, is that the truth? I cannot imagine that an 80-year-old man would want the job, and I believe that most Americans will question if an octogenarian will have the stamina and retain excellent health allowing him to serve four more years.

What I Believe America Needs to Move Forward

I have described my ideal candidate many times. She would be under the age of sixty, Black, a member of the LGBTQ community and a devout Muslim. Whitmer is a woman, and will be in her early 50s on 8, 2024. You can’t have everything.

Time for a Woman to Lead America

With a single exception, white men have caused more harm than good while living in the White House. A progressive, younger woman will place people before profits and the dream of our Founding Fathers may finally become a reality.

Trump’s army of Neo-Nazis hates and fears Governor Whitmer. Like Trump’s attempted coup, their attempt to kidnap the Governor failed. Then she went on to defeat the candidate endorsed by your former, failed president in 2022. She could be the woman our country desperately needs to save our nation’s future.
