In 1838, our future 16th President, Abraham Lincoln predicted how the end of the United States of America would happen. If we look at today’s fake Republicans, and the original fake news network, Fox News, it is clear that he was also the “great prognosticator.”
Mr. Lincoln’s Warning Nearly Became a Reality
On Jan. 27, 1838, Lincoln spoke before the Young Men’s Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois, about “the perpetuation of our political institutions.” During that address, he said: “At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
This was the actual quote, although it has been paraphrased and offered inaccurately many times.
When Trump met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow in 2013, they formed a two pronged attack which would destroy democracy in America and eventually the future of the United States. Almost immediately Trump attempted to alienate members of NATO. His attacks on the organization which is the only reason a WWIII has not happened, were obvious. As a high-ranking member of the KGB, Putin was clear about his intention to end the treaty. The second part of their plan actually began in 1995 with the creation of the first fake news network, Fox News. With the division of our nation’s people reaching a level not seen since the Civil War, there would no longer be a “United” States of America. Thanks to Trump’s fascist party on the Hill, efforts to divide our nation’s people continue, and it’s working.
Our Nation Is Irrevocably Divided
My wife and I experienced a phenomenon which is the direct result of the actions and words from the fascist right.
Attempting to discuss politics with a member of Trump’s cult will result in angry hate speech from that individual. You will immediately be attacked for attempting to use your right of free speech and engage in intelligent and honest destruction. The tactics used by these far right insurrectionists include baseless fear, resulting in anger, and the inevitable incitement of violent words and actions. Intelligence on the right is a rare quality.
The truth is much simpler. The entire right wing of American politics is founded in a belief in white supremacy. A large part of America is changing. Diversity will soon become the demographic of the majority. Change frightens the once Grand Old Party. Sooner than expected pure whites will become a minority. America will become a reality. When this becomes reality, today’s Republicans in name only will never win another election.
Four Years in a Backwards Direction
This explains why the movement by the former GOP to move our nation backwards into the dark days of the mid-twentieth century is so intense. Moving forwards involves respect and pride in the first amendment, the same amendment that people like Trump, Cruz, McConnell, Jordan, Greene, Boebert, Gaetz and others would like to repeal.
I have no doubt that if Trump had been reelected in 2020 the existence of the country most refer to as “America” would be but a memory.
