Billie Eilish is in advanced talks to make her silver screen debut in an adaptation of Silvia Plath’s novel, “The Bell Jar.”

‘The Bell Jar’

Silvia Plath died by suicide at the age of 30 in 1963. Her book is described as “One of the most profound character portraits of mental illness, The Bell Jar tells the story of a brilliant young artist who is losing her mind. Grappling with themes of feminism, societal pressures, and ambition, this is a deep dive into a mind capable of so much being gradually reduced to so little,” reads the description of the book.

Eilish will play the lead role of Esther Greenwood, who struggles with her mental health after taking a position at a New York City magazine, reports Deadline.

Oscar-winning Sarah Polley is set to write the screenplay adaptation of the book and direct the movie.

Other Eilish Credits

Eilish has been nominated for 34 Grammys and won 10.
