On Saturday in Maine, following the rear-ending of a truck which caused it to be pushed into oncoming traffic, five people were transported to a hospital with injuries. The incident occurred along the Carl Broggi Highway at about 4:45 p.m., according to a report by the NBC affiliate, WCSH 6.
A GMC truck was rear-ended by a truck going in the same direction. The driver of that truck was reportedly distracted, which led to the crash that pushed the GMC truck directly into oncoming traffic.
After the GMC was rear-ended while it was waiting to make a left turn into Train’s Quick Stop, forcing it into oncoming traffic, the first vehicle that hit was a SUV. The collision spun the GMC truck around and the driver was trapped inside of it by the impact.
The five people who sustained injuries in the crash were then transported to Southern Maine Health Center. One of the five was later taken to Maine Medical Center. Fortunately, none of the injuries were fatal and all of the five are expected to recover.
