Howard Stern is leaving America’s Got Talent after four seasons on the show, which is about to end Season 10, and this means the show will have to find a replacement for him for next year. He announced on his Sirius XM radio show last Wednesday that America’s Got Talent will not have him for the next season, and the reason appears to be his other commitments. “I’ve got my radio contract coming up here in January. The good people here at Sirius XM like me very much and they would like me to do the show some more. I’ve got to think that through and figure out what’s best for me there” said Howard.
Howard also declared he received an interesting offer in television that excites him and that he would not want to miss the opportunity. To combine the show, his work at the radio, and the TV offer is impossible. He confirmed having no plans for returning to the show for the next season, as he needs to stop and evaluate his career, and that is taking all his time, and making him very busy.
The shock-jock said he has no plans for returning to the show again. “NBC’s already asked me what my intentions are for next year, whether or not I’d come back, I kind of told them I think this is my last season. Now I think, this is my last season.”
Stern said NBC offered him some time to re-think before making the decision, but he said he needs no more time, he has already made up his mind and made the decision, he will not be part of America’s Got Talent for the next Season. He also declared he has positive thoughts about the time he spent with them, and the effort he put into the show with the aim of leaving it a better place than it was before he joined.
Stern is one of the most, if not the most, celebrated radio host in the world. His contract with Sirius in 2004 landed him a five-year deal worth $500 million, making him one of the highest-paid radio figures in history. Stern said he will continue to support the show and enjoy watching it. With over 40 years as a host in the radio business, as an actor, TV personality, producer, photographer and singer with numerous awards under his belt, it is no wonder he names himself “king of All Media.”
The question is, will NBC succeed in finding someone to fill the space Stern will leave empty? He replaced Piers Morgan, who was the judge since the show started its first season in 2006. Stern suggested that Simon Cowell, the creator of the show, and the judge on The X Factor, Pop Idol, and Britain’s Got Talent should replace him.
America’s Got Talent is an American reality talent show television series that features dancers, singers, comedians, and all type of entertainment performers competing for a prize of one million dollars. The show airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m on NBC.
