UFC Light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones was hit with a DWI and was arrested at 5:02 a.m. early Saturday, police said. His mom bailed Jones out shortly after his arrest.
Jones struck a pole; his Bentley was totaled, but he wasn’t injured in the crash. He is scheduled to defend his heavy-weight title against former Strikeforce and Pride champion Dan Henderson on September 1 in Las Vegas.
He was released after a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
“I think if I was a knucklehead and I was a guy who you would have to worry about getting a DWI or going out and doing something really stupid, they simply wouldn’t promote me. I think they see the guy that I am and they trust that, even though I’m a 24-year-old, I’m a trustworthy 24-year-old,” the star told “TODAY” last month.
