Listeria strikes New Zealand as two people die. Three others have falling ill after contracting the disease. The outbreak is believed to have originated in hospital food from two different regions.
The affected products have been recalled from shops as they may all contain the bacteria causing the disease.
Two elderly women died after contracting the disease from the meat they ate during their stay at Hawkes Bay Hospital.
The other three that fell ill have recovered.
A spokesman for Hawkes Bay Hospital, Andrew Coleman, says another case has been reported at Tauranga Hospital; however, no further information is available in that case.
