Las Vegas Suspect Armed and Dangerous Gets Taken Down

On July 17th, 2012, at approximately 7:12 a.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department call center received a call from a person reporting he had found an unknown male sleeping inside his vehicle.

Officers arrived at the 4300 block of Ridgedale Ave. in Southeast Las Vegas where they found the male inside the victim’s vehicle. The suspect acknowledged the officers but refused to exit.

At approximately 7:54 a.m. the LVMPD SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams were called to scene, in an attempt to peacefully resolve the situation. At approximately 8:50 a.m. officers reported a shot fired from inside the vehicle. As negotiations continued, the suspect fired several more shots from inside the vehicle. Fortunately no injuries were reported.

At approximately 11:31 a.m., SWAT introduced gas into the vehicle. A short time later, the suspect exited the vehicle armed with a handgun. The suspect dropped the firearm and attempted to flee by jumping over a wall. Officers and K-9 units took the suspect in custody following a short struggle. The suspect only received minor injuries.

The suspect was identified as 29 year-old Mitereo Ramirez of Las Vegas. Ramirez is currently housed at the Clark County Detention Center in isolation. It is anticipated he will be booked for the following charges:

3 counts of Attempt Murder of a Police Officer
3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon
5 counts of Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle Resisting a Police Officer with a Firearm
