Taking Back Our Right to Freedom Our Constitution Guarantees Us

Today is the first day of the rest of our precious freedom.

By Bridgette Bryant

We have the option to move forward as we are down this path that takes us away from the nation we were founded as, or in this day, we can set our minds and our hearts to commit to staying true to who we are as a nation and begin here and now to peaceably take back the liberty and power granted to us by our nation’s Constitution.

We have fallen away from the Republic our Founding Fathers established (yes, we are a Republic) and yielded to the falsehood that we are a democratic nation. Our Forefathers did not lack the insight required to see what creating a democracy would cause. That is why they did not place us under such a burden. John Adams said, “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” And Thomas Jefferson, “When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.” This is exactly the state in which we preside today.

They knew that democracies, in time, turn into oligarchies. Not sure what that is? From Webster.com, Oligarchy –”a government in which a small group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes.” Does this sound strangely familiar?

The founding fathers also knew that holding on to our Republic was not something that would happen automatically. At the close of the Constitutional Convention, a woman from the crowd called out to Benjamin Franklin, “Mr. Franklin! What kind of a government have you given us?!” To which he responded, “A Republic, madam, if you can hold on to it!”

Chief Justice John Marshall once noted, “between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.” What better description of the nation we are living in?

Our national finances are in chaos, our children are in chaos, our stance as the most powerful nation in the world is shaking, and our understanding of what is really going on internally and externally is non-existent. The time has come for enough to be enough.

If we continue on this path, this nation as we know it will cease to exist. We have got to live as the Republic that was originally established or give up our dreams of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Today, let us join together and claim the rebirth of our independence!

By definition, our great nation is a Constitutional Republic. In a Republic, the people rule the government, not the other way around. In a Republic, Federal governing powers are limited, and authorities are not allowed to dictate the personal and private affairs of the people. A Republic, by definition, has two principle elements: it is controlled by Law and, therefore, does not control Law. It recognizes the private, independent, sovereign nature of each individual person. We must decide to no longer settle for anything less.

We have simply forgotten who we are, friends. Let me remind you.

“The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” The mantra of our civil war.

“…and to the republic, for which it stands,” That we have each pledged.

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government and shall protect each of them again Invasion,” This, straight from your very own United States of America Constitution.

What does a Republic look like? From Webster.com, Republic – “a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law.”

“Supreme power resides in the body of citizens.” When was the last time you heard that? Listen up.

WE are in charge of this land. WE have the right to say, ‘back off and get the hell out of my business so I can live my life and take care of my family the way I want to.’ WE, the people of this nation, have the power to stand in peace and declare in one unified voice, ‘Enough is Enough! I’m sick of this, and I’m not going to take it anymore!”

It will not stop until we remind our government of its place, “for the people, BY the people.” It will not stop until you vote for leaders who will stand against the tide and who know who we’re supposed to be in the first place! These are the only officials who will commit to restoring us to the standard that made us great!

Together, we can inspire a change in the way our nation is currently being run. But first you must know the facts. Do some research and find out who you are and what powers you were given by your nation’s Constitution. Take these tools. Stand up. Fight.

It is easier to sit by, but we have GOT to recognize where this has gotten us. We must learn from history, or we WILL repeat it. The symptoms we are currently experiencing are the same symptoms that occurred before the Fall of Rome. That is terrifying. We have to do something to stop this sinking ship. And you must remember that if you do nothing to create change, you have no right to complain when things are not the way you want them to be. Our founding fathers said it best:

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” – Benjamin Franklin

“Those who expect to reap the benefits of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.” – Thomas Paine

“Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of Liberty.” – Thomas Jefferson

Despotism means a form of government where a ruler has absolute power. Be not a timid man. That is why this country was created: to escape the rule of absolute power and live under the guidance of Statesmen who are our representatives, not our dictators. Leaders who protect our freedom on a military level, not restrict our privately held decisions.

Together, we can accomplish anything and the time is now for you to find out who you are, understand your power, stand up with me and fight for what is right.
