Jay-Z and the Brooklyn Nets parting ways
Hip Hop Icon Jay-Z is adding yet another title to his name and that is sports agent. That is correct the Hip Hop Icon recently signed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano to his Roc Nation which is partnered with Creative Artist Agency (CAA). This after Robinson Cano fired his former sports agent Scott Boras.
Still, in order for Jay-Z to represent NBA clients he must sell his stake in the NBA franchise the Brooklyn Nets. A process the Hip Hop star has already began to do. Jay-Z owns .067 percent (1/15th of a percent) of the Brooklyn Nets that’s a net worth of $350,000.
In a statement interim coach P.J. Carlesimo said, “He had an enormous amount to do with the rebranding of the team. I wasn’t close to it at all, but from what I’ve seen, it would be hard to overstate his importance in this all. I like his involvement in the team; he’s at the games, and maybe he’s around more than I realize behind the scenes. But he’s an excellent fan, one that wasn’t just around this year, but a lot in the past too, which is very telling to me.”
As for the Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark, he did not partake in commenting on Jay-Z’s departure as one of the team’s minority owners.
As for Robinson Cano and his signing with Roc Nation, the Yankees second baseman could not be happier as he tweeted a photo of he and Jay-Z during their signing.
