John F. Kennedy to be Played by Actor Rob Lowe in TV Movie

John F Kennedy to be played by Rob Lowe
John F. Kennedy is to be played by the actor Rob Lowe in a TV movie that will be more documentary than fiction. The show’s producers are referring to the film as a “factual drama.”

The television film is being produced from an adaptation of a book written by television news commentator Bill O’Reilly who works on the Fox News Network and author Martin Dugard. The film will air on the National Geographic Channel later in the year.

American actor Rob Lowe will portray slain President John F. Kennedy in a television movie based on the book by TV news commentator Bill O’Reilly and author Martin Dugard, Killing Kennedy. The book is part of a series of books, which includes Killing Lincoln which was also made into a “docu-drama.”

As with Killing Lincoln, Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions will produce Killing Kennedy. The film will trace John F Kennedy’s last days over the course of a two-hour teleplay. National Geographic said it will premiere in 171 countries and 38 languages.

The president of the National Geographic Channels, Howard T Owens released a statement on Tuesday that said, “We are thrilled to be working with Rob Lowe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Michelle Trachtenberg, three gifted artists who have responded to this timely, authentic and entertaining material. National Geographic Channel continues to bring daring, culturally significant television events to our growing global audience.”

With John F Kennedy being played by actor Rob Lowe in the TV movie, a number of people will remember when Lowe was in the news for his sexual escapades in 1989 where the randy actor had filmed himself having sex with two women one of which was a young girl thought to be a minor.

The tape was leaked and Lowe’s career looked to be ruined, but he staged a comeback and later on became a regular cast member on The West Wing, a television show about the White House.

The “docu-drama” Killing Kennedy, will be released in time to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F Kennedy.

On November 22, 1963 then President John F Kennedy was shot in Dallas, Texas as he and his first lady Jaqueline Kennedy were on a presidential motorcade that was going through the city. The president was shot by a “lone” assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald.

Oswald never stood trial for his actions as he was shot by a local nightclub owner Jack Ruby while he was being transported by the Dallas Police Department.

Ex Buffy the Vampire Slayer alumni and Gossip Girl Michelle Trachtenberg will play Oswald’s Soviet-born wife, Marina Oswald. This will be the first Russian-speaking role for the American actress who, it so happens, is fluent in the language.

The actor to play Oswald is still to be decided upon with the prediction that whoever it is will be cast within the next two weeks according to a National Geographic Network spokeswoman.

With the Killing Kennedy show being aired on the 50th anniversary of his assassination by the network and John F Kennedy being played by Rob Lowe, who only just finished narrating the National Geographic Network’s documentary miniseries The ’80s: The Decade that Made Us; the project has a real “in-house” feel to it. The National Geographic Channel is jointly owned by the National Geographic Society and News Corp-owned Fox.
