Democratic Senator from New Jersey, Frank Lautenberg died Monday morning, and will be replaced by Republican Governor Chris Christie.
Lautenberg was 89 years old and the oldest Senator, and longest serving legislator in New Jersey’s history.
Lautenberg had returned to work earlier this year, and said he would not seek reelection in 2014. He wanted to accomplish legislation that would remove certain chemicals from household products. A bipartisan agreement had been reached.
First reports from sources say the Chris Christie will replace Senator Lautenberg.
