Adam Lambert Joining Glee Lea Michele Excited

Only two days before Glee’s Cory Monteith was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver, Canada; Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy announced on his Twitter account that the American Idol finalist Adam Lambert would be joining the cast. On the same day Lea Michele tweeted of being excited at the news.

Murphy tweeted:

This was made just before Monteith’s death caused major problems for the Fox musical show and its creators and remaining cast members. And of course his girlfriend in the show and real life, Lea Michele.

On the same day that Murphy made his announcement, Lea tweeted:

But Lea’s excitement has obviously taken a nosedive since the death of her co-star and real life love died on July 13. And neither she nor Ryan Murphy have take to their Twitter accounts to talk of the American Idol finalist joining the show.

The news of Lambert’s addition to the Glee cast came just after announcements were made of show regulars who were leaving the popular show. A lot of favourites are leaving before season five comes back on screens in September this year.

The list of departures includes, Heather Morris as Brittany; Mark Salling as Puck; Harry Shum, Jr. as Mike; Dianna Agron as Quinn and Amber Riley as Mercedes. But according to Entertainment Weekly, the actors will be coming back as guest stars in the new season.

New actors have been named as replacement for the familiar faces who’ve left the show. Melissa Benoist, Blake Jenner, Alex Newell, Jacob Artist, Becca Tobin and now, Adam Lambert. Lambert himself has been a fan of the show since its start and he said when he was still on American Idol that he’d love to join the cast.

Unfortunately for the popular American Idol finalist, he will be joining the show while the cast and Lea Michele are having to deal with the sudden and unexpected death one of the show’s core characters Finn Hudson. Cory Monteith’s death will be addressed in the show via Hudson in episode three of season five. Lea Michele may still be excited to see Adam Lambert join the cast of Glee, but with Lambert’s joining being dampened by Cory’s death, she’ll be hard pressed to be too welcoming.

Lambert was a huge crowd favorite on American Idol and him not winning the contest was somewhat controversial. During the show, photographs surfaced of Adam Lambert kissing another man. These photos were seen as being highly controversial. Fox program The O’Reilly Factor displayed the pictures and O’Reilly called them embarrassing. He also said that the photographs would impact the outcome of the competition.

Lambert agreed that the pictures were of him and he went on to say that he felt that he had nothing to hide and that he’d always been very open about his life. The media openly discussed his his sexuality and whether or not the American Idol voters would vote for an openly gay contestant.

Later, when Lambert was interviewed by Rolling Stone and the magazine asked whether he felt that the fact he was gay influenced the final vote, Lambert said, “probably.”

Though the 31 year-old performer has little in the way of acting experience, he may be just what the grief stricken show and fans need to help take their minds off the tragedy of Cory Monteith’s needless and shocking death. Adam Lambert joining Glee has been overshadowed by Monteith’s death and Lea Michele has probably lost some of her excitement. But once the departure of Finn Hudson has been dealt with on the show, Glee should get right back where they were with the fans and the cast.
