Manila, Philippines, Oct. 15, 2013: In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale and with frequent aftershocks measuring 5.0 in the Cebu region of Philippines, the government has called for suspension of all public and private activities. According to this latest press release, all schools will remain closed, so will all the offices, whether in the public or the private sectors. This warning comes in the wake of a possible second earthquake of the same intensity hitting the Cebu region. In view of this warning issued in public interest by the government, all national and international activities will remain suspended for an indefinite period till any new press release by the the government. It is to be noted that the initial earthquake caused wide spread devastation in the region, especially effecting old and high rise buildings. The government has released Philippine $ 10 million to various government disaster relief agencies to carry out immediate relief work.
