Early Monday afternoon, a number of residents in Huntington Beach, CA, were evacuated after an oil derrick started bending and falling over during a normal maintenance job. The incident took place near 1st Street and Pacific Coast Highway. According to NBC Los Angeles, a crane was originally being used to help keep the derrick steady.
Though no further details are yet known, local officials are on the scene.
