New Orleans Saints cornerback Jabari Greer has been taken from the field on a cart after coming down badly on his leg during a play on Sunday.
Greer’s right knee bent too far out as he came down from jumping up to attempt to block a pass from San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick. The play was incomplete and the 49ers had to punt.
There is no score in the game at the Superdome with a little over six minutes remaining in the first quarter. Both defenses were holding strong and forcing punts.
The Saints are already having to use tight end Jimmy Graham lightly due a torn plantar fascia. Saints rookie safety Kenny Vaccaro, and tight end Benjamin Watson are out for today’s game due to injury.
No information on the extent of Greer’s injury is available at this time.
Quarterback Drew Brees drove the Saints down field for a touchdown pass to tight end Josh Hill to score the first points of the game with under a minute left in the first quarter.
