Chris Christie may have had knowledge about the lane closings on the George Washington Bridge, according to a former Port Authority official.
David Wildstein, a former high school classmate of Christie’s, claims that “evidence exists tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference.”
The information was contained in a letter released Friday by Wildstein’s lawyers. The New Jersey governor has been rocked by a scandal involving the closing of lanes on the George Washington Bridge last September during peak rush hour traffic. Some allege that the closings were politically motivated.
