Ralph Waite TV Father Figure of The Waltons Dead at 85

Ralph Waite, who is remembered as John Walton, Sr., the patriarch of CBS’s Walton family on The Waltons, passed away at age 85 on the afternoon of Thursday, February 13 in his home in South Palm Desert, California.

Waite portrayed the fundamental American father figure for 9 years on the set of the 1970s Emmy-award winning television series The Waltons and was  nominated for an Emmy near the end of the show’s run.

There has been no cause of death announced as of yet.
