Justin Bieber was spotted and photographed in Beverly Hills illegally driving on a sidewalk Thursday on his Can-Am Spyder. Bieber was also accused of blatantly disregarding the lives and safety of others and almost hitting an elderly woman who was using a walker. He got onto the sidewalk in an effort to get around heavy traffic on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, according to The Inquisitr.
While driving his Can-Am Spyder down the sidewalk was illegal, a video taken of the incident by paparazzi actually shows that Justin Bieber, 20, was keeping a safe distance away from the elderly woman and he got back on the road as soon as possible, rejoining some of his friends, who were driving similar vehicles.
Justin Bieber was warned by the police not to drive on sidewalks, but there were no police around at the time of the incident who witnessed him and the Biebs has not been issued a ticket. The pop singer did, in the words of the Beverly Hills Police Department, commit a “vehicle code violation.”
Whatever the reason the Heartbreaker singer left the street and began driving on the sidewalk does not stop his action from being illegal and reckless. As a police spokesperson told E! News, driving on a sidewalk “is incredibly unsafe. He’s putting other people’s safety in jeopardy.”
It was a good thing for Justin Bieber that he was not seen by the police and arrested, as he is probation for two years on the charges that, earlier this year, he allegedly egged a neighbor’s house in Calabasas, California. Part of the sentence he received was that he must attend anger management classes for 12 weeks and take part in five days of community service.
While, on the romance front, according to TMZ.com, Justin Bieber appears to be back with the supposed true love of his life, singer and actress Selena Gomez, his legal issues are not running quite as smoothly. At least, Der Biebster has not been charged with having committed a parole violation – yet, anyway.
Later in the video, Justin Bieber is seen at a red traffic light, back with his friends, jamming out to music. He seems to be oblivious to the fact that he has just broken the law and that he potentially was placing the lives of other people in danger by his act of driving on the sidewalk. Fortunately, no one was hit or otherwise injured during the off-road detour that Bieber took.
Few people enjoy waiting in congested traffic, but that does not excuse Justin Bieber of having left the road and committing an infraction by violating the vehicle code. If a policeman had been around, it is likely that the Biebster would have been pulled over and given a ticket. Unless further evidence surfaces, Justin Bieber might get by with only the warning.
The incident that occurred on Thursday in Beverly Hills, California, was just the latest in a series of driving violations that Justin Bieber has been charged with over the last couple of years. So far, nobody has been seriously injured, but there seems to be a trend of committing some violation of the law, acting contrite, then going out and getting in some other vehicle and breaking some other law. Hopefully, there will be no further incidents of reckless driving by Justin Bieber to add to the growing list.
