Mel Gibson Loses Out on Role Due to Scandals

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson lost out on a role on the new Mad Max movie due to scandals over the last few years. The director of Mad Max: Fury Road, George Miller, was extremely disappointed that he had to make that decision. It was due to the original movie in 1979 that both he and the actor made it in the business.

The 69-year-old director explained in a recent interview that he did want to bring the actor back for the role. That was the original plan, but the recent scandals led to the decision not to do that. Miller had to think of the controversy that could have surrounded the film, and wanted to limit as much of it as possible. It had nothing to do with Gibson’s acting abilities.

Miller also explained that the new movie was not created in the conventional way. Rather than focusing on a script, the whole movie was written out through storyboards. There is very little dialogue, suggesting that it is all about the action and computer graphics. He also noted that there is enough for storylines for more movies, so the decision to recast the main character was not just due to the scandals.

More movies means that younger people are needed. That was partially the reason for casting someone younger as Max Rockatansky.

This is the first live-action movie Miller has shot since the first Happy Feet animation movie that he was involved with in 2006. He then went on to do the 2011 sequel. It is a major change in shooting, which could also have added to the decision to recast. Gibson did not just lose out on roles due to his recent scandals.

The Australian director explained that he wanted to make everything as realistic as possible. Real cars have been smashed and the action really happened. Surprisingly, there were only minor injuries on the set while filming. This type of filming does not just make it better for viewers. It makes it more exciting for those who are part of it. However, there is the element of risk, and it could have been disastrous if things did not quite go to plan.

It is a lesson to actors though that they need to think about their actions. Gibson has partially lost out because of his recent actions and scandals. Others have lost out on roles in the past because directors are unwilling to take the risk. They want people who will turn up on time, be easy to work with and not cause controversy on the set. Controversial actions can lead to people refusing to watch movies and TV shows just because of the decision to use that one actor.

The Braveheart actor has not spoken about Miller’s decision yet. The actor has currently been involved in Expendables 3 and has other movies open to him. He has also directed a number of movies over the years, and will likely have more plans for that. However, he will need to consider his actions as Gibson did partially lose out on a role due to his recent scandals.

That sucks and is a load of crap! Scandals? This is a BRUTAL R rated film! If anything, bringing Mel back would be a great thing. Tom Hardy is great, but Mel is the real deal.
