Criminal Minds star Nicholas Brendon is planning to enter rehab once more, following his recent arrest at an Idaho Comic Con event. The actor took to Facebook this afternoon, in order to issue an apology to those involved and to inform his fans of his coming plans to better himself.
The 43-year-old attributed the incident in question to the result of having mixed pain medication with alcohol, something he has since regretted immensely and claims would do anything to take back. The pain medication was said to have been prescribed in order to help him with an ailment consisting of a cyst behind the actor’s knee, but was advised not to be mixed with alcohol, much like most medication. Brendon chose to drink heavily that night anyway, and that is when things took a turn for the worst. He says he is entering treatment for the matter, in the hopes that he will be able to kick the habit and an incident like this will never occur again. He then apologizes to those individuals with whom the event occurred, admitting that he knows the words will only go so far and that his actions will decide how he is viewed in the public eye from now on. This will reportedly be the third time Brendon has entered treatment for a substance abuse problem, the first being in 2004 for alcohol addiction and the second in the year 2010 for mixing alcohol with a sleeping pill addiction.Indeed, his problems with alcohol caused him to be placed under arrest back in the latter year and charged with vandalism and resisting arrest.
Brendon’s most recent arrest occurred this past Friday, and took place in a Boise hotel that was being used to host said Comic Con event. Boise PD responded to concerned calls regarding the California native’s behavior, which witnesses explained had to do with a conflict surrounding the hotel staff members. When law enforcement arrived reportedly around 10pm, they found the actor getting into it with said employees and he proceeded to be extremely uncooperative with their wishes. After refusing to remain seated while officers took statements from witnesses, Brendon was then said to attempt to leave the premises. Before he could succeed in fleeing the scene, however, he was placed under arrest and subsequently taken to a Boise police station and charged. The charges included resisting and obstructing arrest, as well as malicious injury towards property, something the actor was charged with per the hotel staffers wishes. The reason for this request is said to revolved around a decorative plate that employees claim was broken by the actor during the conflict and refused to pay for, hence they made the move to charge him for the dish having been destroyed. Officers also gave the statement that Brendon most definitely seemed intoxicated when they arrived on the scene to defuse the situation, something he himself has admitted to being true.
It remains to be seen when and where Nicholas Brendon will seek treatment for his aforementioned issues surrounding alcohol and pain medication. Further information on this has yet to be revealed, by either the actor or his representative.
