Ebola: Texas Healthcare Worker Tests Positive

Following the death of Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person positively diagnosed with Ebola on American soil, a healthcare worker at the same hospital has now tested positive for the deadly disease. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta will perform additional tests to confirm the diagnosis.

Texas Department of State Health commissioner, David Lakey admitted that a second case of Ebola was likely at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where Duncan died, and that they had been preparing for it. In the wake of this second case in the United States, Lakey said the Texas Department of State Health is expanding their efforts to prevent the virus from spreading further throughout the state and beyond.
