Sunday Evening, officers from the Cleveland Police Department answered a call to the West Side to check reports received about a child being stabbed. Reports from a Cleveland Police Department’s spokesperson said that the incident occurred on West 47th Street in the 3600 block, near Denison Ave, sometime after 9:00 p.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult female and a 3-year-old girl. The female, a 27-year old, later identified as the child’s mother, kicked the door out at the officers. Police then entered the home to do a well-being check of the little girl. Upon entering the home, officers found the child was injured with a stab wound to the abdomen.
The 3-year-old was taken to a local hospital to have her wound treated, while the girl’s mother was arrested for child endangerment and felonious assault. A number of second district officers are now on scene and conducting an investigation into the incident. The status of the girl and her injuries have not been released at this time.
