Four men who were thought to be treasure hunters were killed after being electrocuted on Friday while they were digging out a tunnel in the Cebu city of Danao. It is believed that the four men were electrocuted and then fell into the tunnel. This is according to a dzBB radio broadcast by Kit Matos Cortez of RGMA Cebu.

The four men have been identified as 49-year-old Ernesto Ogabano, 21-year-old Jess Christian Miguel, 19-year-old Dionel Mayon, and Amick Bunconseho, whose age has not been verified at this time. The report from RGMA Cebu indicated that the deaths occurred in Barangay Maslog. The investigation so far has indicated that the four men were in the process of digging a 25 to 30 foot tunnel. One of the four was in the tunnel by himself sealing the tunnel using concrete. He apparently touched a wire connected to a water pump they were using to keep the tunnel clear of water. He suffered a shock and fell into the tunnel.

After the initial fall, he called for help and the other three came in and were also electrocuted. More details about the incident should be forthcoming as an investigation into the deaths continues.
