A moderate earthquake struck down approximately 151 kilometers/94 miles from Ile Hunter, New Caledonia. The quake occurred today in the morning and the magnitude was around 5.1. The U.S. Geological Survey said that a tsunami warning has not been issued following the earthquake. Tsunamis could still be possible but do not appear to be a concern at this time. The quake was reviewed by a seismologist who did not report any major concerns due to the moderate nature of the quake. Some side effects occur but only minor ones are expected at this time.
