Officers Gun Downed in Las Vegas Restaurant Suspects Yell “This Is a Revolution”

Las Vegas

Two suspects gun downed two officers as they yelled, “This is a revolution” in a Las Vegas Restaurant. Sunday afternoon as officer Alyn Beck 41, and Igor Soldo 31, were eating lunch at a CiCi’s Pizza a male and female walked in to the restaurant and open fired on the officers. One officer was able to fire back.

The suspect then shot a third victim at a neighboring Wal-Mart. According to Sheriff Doug Gillespie, it appears that the female suspect then shot the male suspect before taking her own life. Beck who was an officer for more than a dozen years was killed. He leaves behind a wife and three children. Soldo was an officer for eight years; he leaves behind a wife and a baby.

According to Las Vegas Police Department spokesperson, Larry Hadfield, the violent shooting began at 11:30 a.m., when the two suspects walked into the restaurant and shot the two officers while they ate lunch. During the attack one of the assailants yelled, “This is a Revolution.”

After they shot the officer the two attackers ran to a Wal-Mart located across the street, according to Hadfield, and shot another victim. Pauline Pacheco who was shopping with her father at the time of the incident, fled with him when she saw the armed gunman. Pacheco told KLAS-TV that the man was yelling bad words, walking as he shouted, and all of the sudden he had a gun. She called the moment terrible and said the man was crazy. The male shooter told people in Wal-Mart to get out of the store, according to assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill. The two assailants then walked to the back of the store. The name of the civilian victim has yet to be released.

The gunning down of two officers in Las Vegas is still under investigation, and even though, “This is a Revolution” was yelled the motive for the killing is still unclear. Wal-Mart released a statement expressing condolences to everyone who was affected by this senseless act of violence, and the company is cooperating with the police in the investigation. CiCi’s Pizza said they are deeply saddened and the restaurant where the event happened will be closed until further notice. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodwin praised the officer who had dedicated their lives to protecting the community; she called the shootings a “cruel act.”
