David O.Russell’s cast is back with a new trailer from his movie ‘Joy.’ Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Oscar winner Robert De Niro star in the upcoming dramedy. The film is about a struggling single mom, Joy Mangano, who invented the Miracle Mop and fortified a family empire. This is the third time the three actors have shared the silver screen since the Oscar nominated films Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

O.Russell, who was nominated for Best Writer and Best Director for Playbook, said he shares an enormous amount of trust and affection for his cast that allows them to take risks. These risks have rewarded O.Russell with two Bafta Awards, one for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. His latest movie, Joy, is the biographical story of a family of business pioneers and the woman who fought the odds and created a dynasty.

The trailer opens with Lawrence, her first lead in any of O.Russells films, as a child being led into a world of struggle, behind the film’s propelling Rolling Stone quartet. The films of O.Russell dig into the heartbreak and redemption of blue-collar families, the same way that Scorsese does with his tales of Italian gangster tragedy. Bradley Cooper, fresh off his Oscar nominated role for American Sniper also shines in the trailer. Cooper and the director have hit the same cord before, and the hints of an Oscar nob for the American Hustle actor look good. Cooper plays an executive at the Home Shopping Network who helps the future matriarch sell her product.

The movie’s trailer hits the trifecta when it features Oscar winner Robert De Niro, Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter. He plays Lawrence’s father, and from the looks of the trailer, drives the emotional wheels of the family drama. De Niro played Cooper’s Eagle loving, emotionally charged father in Silver Linings Playbook. The cast is back in the new trailer for Joy and David O.Russell has a new reason to suit up for the Oscars.

A clip of Jennifer Lawrence firing a shotgun, and uttering the line “My name’s Joy by the way, shows Lawrence’s range as a strong female lead. The actress is no stranger to challenging roles, whether it be the hero in the Hunger Games franchise or David O.Russells tales of family struggles, Lawrence is always the emotional defender. The trailer alone is gripping and heart pounding, which defines any movie about family, triumph and tragedy.

The real Joy Mangano, was the inventor of the glowing flea collar, but she never received recognition for it. One day she got frustrated with her useless mops and invented the Miracle Mop, which became a household name. She sold her invention on the QVC network and sold 18,000 mops in 20 minutes. Her company made 10 million dollars a year after the commercial. It was her diligence and success story that drove David O.Russell to make the movie.

David O.Russell’s cast is back in the new trailer for Joy because they have forged friendships on and off screen. Silver Linings dealt with the struggles of families coping with emotionally challenged children and loss, American Hustle dealt with criminal families struggling to hold on to the American Dream. David O.Russell and  his family will be seated together come awards season. Joy opens on Christmas 2015.
