Shooting of 3 Palm Springs Police Officers Kills 2


After three police officers were shot, a massive pursuit is proceeding in California. Earlier, on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The officers were hurried to local hospitals in Palm Springs, where later, two died, and the other remains in a life-threatening condition. The shooting occurred after they were called to investigate a family disturbance.

According to the Los Angeles Times, spokespersons mentioned they were dealing with a dangerous situation, but there was not much information given at the time. Police expressed that this dangerous situation was developing near Sunrise Way Racquet and Club Road.

Palm Springs Police Sergeant William Hutchinson, said that the shooting suspect opened fire on the officers. Reports so far show that one is a 35-year veteran officer and the other is a 27 years old, who just returned from maternity leave. However, there has not been any new information released on the third victim.

At the moment, there is no suspect in custody. However, there are several SWAT units searching the region. A “code red alert” was sent out by the department earlier, while several individuals in some adjacent blocks were being evacuated.

Police are warning those in the neighborhood, not to open their doors and make sure their door locks are secure. Officers stress that no one should open their doors to people they do not know: “Please do not answer your doors for anybody.” Sources mention that the incident had something to do with a fight between a father and his son. The heated debate between the two eventually turned into a violent conflict.

Just four days earlier, there was another shooting that took place leaving a Los Angeles County sheriff fatally shot. The incident happened in Lancaster, right after a 911 call about a burglary. Sources claimed that the lawman was killed by the suspect, who was recently apprehended.
