Having trouble accessing Instagram or Facebook on Wednesday, March 13, 2019? You are not alone.
According to USA Today, the social networks went down early in the afternoon and issues began to pop-up across Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.
As with previous Facebook outages, people took to Twitter with the hashtag #facebookdown, which is now one of the top trending topics in the United States.
DownDetector monitors websites and showed that the social media giant was experiencing issues across a large portion of the U.S. and Europe, in addition to issues in South American and Asia.
At this time, it is not clear what has caused the outage. Some users are reporting that they have seen a message saying the site was down for “required maintenance.”
A spokesperson from Facebook told USA Today, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
