On May 12, 2019, police in Florida received a call that a person was drowning. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the human was actually a horse who was stuck in a swimming pool.
The Sheriff’s office from Palm Beach County arrived and found the horse in the swimming pool of a Lake Worth home. It appeared the horse somehow fell in.
A deputy who would be retiring in 22 days, in his full uniform went into the pool to comfort and reassure the horse.
The deputy sat on the steps of the pool and calmed and soothed the horse, who was standing in water approximately three feet.
Also arriving at the scene was the Fire Rescue team of Palm Beach County. Both the sheriff’s office and fire rescue worked together to remove the animal from the pool.
Despite the heroic efforts, police officials announced on May 13, 2019, that unfortunately, the horse did not survive. The cause of death was not revealed.
