Bridge Explosion

Eight persons have been seized in relation to the explosion on Saturday that destroyed the only bridge bridging occupied Crimea and Russia. Signaling a crucial turning point in Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

According to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), were responsible for planning the “terrorist attack” on the Kerch Strait road and rail bridge, Russian state media RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

According to the report by the FSB and the Russian Investigative Committee, RIA Novosti, “Five residents of Russia, three citizens of Ukraine, and one citizen of Armenia, who engaged in the preparation of the crime, have been detained as part of a criminal prosecution.”

The FSB investigation also stated. According to RIA Novosti. “The explosive device was disguised in rolls of polyethylene construction film on 22 pallets with a total weight of 22,770 kilos.”

On the fresh allegations made by the FSB and Investigative Committee of Russia. Ukraine has not yet made any public remarks.

The weekend explosion on the Crimea bridge dealt a serious setback. Setback refers to what the Kremlin refers to as its “special military campaign” in Ukraine. Moscow is battling low morale among its soldiers and running out of military supplies.

Because it connects Russia’s Krasnador area with the Crimean peninsula. which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014 in a move sharply denounced by the international community. The bridge is strategically significant.

Vital Route

It is a vital route for bringing both everyday necessities and military supplies to Crimea. Numerous Russian military convoys have utilized the bridge over the past two months to transport vehicles, armor, and gasoline.

Following the explosion, some rail and car traffic resumed on the bridge. Larger vehicles, such as buses, vans, and big trucks, travel by ferry, though.

Earlier, according to Russian officials, the explosion was brought on by a truck blowing up on the bridge. According to the investigation, the explosive device was sent from the port of Odesa through Bulgaria, Georgia, and Armenia at the beginning of August of this year, according to the Russian state agency TASS.

The Kremlin also responded feverishly to the explosion. Using it as justification for a wave of violent airstrikes against Ukraine on Monday in images reminiscent of the first days of the invasion.

According to Ukrainian officials, the attacks targeted vital energy infrastructure in Kyiv and other significant Ukrainian cities. It resulted in at least 19 fatalities and more than 100 injuries.

Rescue workers combed through debris in the eastern city of Zaporizhzhia on Sunday after Russian missile attacks left at least 13 people dead and 89 more injured. Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, carried out the deadly shelling as “revenge” for recent battlefield losses.

“He chose to torment civilians in a reaction as punishment when his troops could not defeat the Ukrainian army.” Kuleba said CNN Chief International Anchor Christiane Amanpour.

Supporting Ukraine

Following the strikes, international leaders also vowed to support Ukraine.

Josep Borrell. the in-charge of foreign policy for the European Union tweeted on Monday that “Such crimes have no place in (the) 21st century.”

Alexander De Croo, the prime minister of Belgium. Stated on Twitter that “Russia’s shelling of Kyiv and of civilian targets in many other places is a disgusting conduct.”

Volodymyr Zelensky. The president of Ukraine appealed to the G7 on Tuesday for assistance in building an “air shield” for defense against aerial assaults. Additionally, he demanded that Russia be designated as a state sponsor of terrorism and asked for tougher penalties against it.

Zelensky’s appeal comes a day after Putin accused Kyiv of “terrorism” and vowed additional “severe” retaliation .” according to the level of threat to the Russian Federation. have no mistake about it.”

Prior to that, Ukrainian officials took pride in the bridge explosion but made no claims of culpability.
