On Jan. 1, 2026, Victoria Jones, daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, was found dead at the age of 34 in a San Francisco hotel.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in San Francisco announced her death was due to “toxic effects of cocaine” and ruled her death an “accident” on Feb. 17.

On Jan.2, the family spoke of their tragic loss. “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”

Responding to the Emergency Call

At 2:52 a.m. on Jan. 1, San Francisco Police and Fire responded to the report of a medical emergency at the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel. Upon arrival, first responders found an unnamed deceased individual.

Later, NBC Bay Area reported the woman was believed to be Victoria. People obtained the audio recorded by dispatch as a “code 3 for the overdose, color change.” In overdose cases, “color change” refers to cyanosis which is an indicator of low blood oxygen levels often linked to heart or lung disease causing a blue or purple discoloration of the skin, lips, and nails, according to Cleveland Clinic.

At that time, the Fairmont San Francisco released the following statement: “We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at the hotel on January 1, 2026. Our heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones during this very difficult time. The hotel team is actively cooperating and supporting police authorities within the framework of the ongoing investigation.”

Victoria Jones’ Struggle With Addiction

Two years before her overdose, Victoria’s Oscar-winning father opted for temporary conservatorship to ensure she received support for drug rehabilitation. At that time, she was being held at a Greenbrae hospital under a 14-day psychiatric hold as authorities determined she could be a risk to herself or others.

Her father’s petition was to oversee Jones’ transfer to a drug rehabilitation treatment facility upon release. The petition stated she was in need of “services provided by a drug rehabilitation facility that are not available at a hospital” to work toward recovery and sobriety. A judge approved the request and Tommy moved to dismiss the conservatorship which was terminated on Dec. 18, 2023. Jones’ struggles with addiction led to multiple psychiatric holds and legal incidents.

In April 2025, authorities in Napa Valley conducted a wellness check and charged Jones with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest.

Officials reported finding a plastic bag containing a white powder in her pocket. It was believed to be cocaine. She pleaded not guilty and was scheduled to appear in court later this month.

In June, Victoria was arrested after a domestic incident at Carneros Resort and Spa in Napa. She denied allegations of elder abuse in that case.

Victoria is survived by her father, Tommy, 79, her mother, Kimberlea Cloughley, and her brother, Austin, 43.

Film Credits

Victoria made her film debut in her father’s 2022 “Men in Black II.” She was an Immigrant Girl in “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” and is also credited in “Sorry, Haters,” “The Homesman,” and an episode of “One Tree Hill” in 2005.

As an adult, she stepped away from acting but occasionally was seen alongside her father at red carpet events, including the premiere of “Just Getting Started,” in 2017, and the Tokyo Film Festival.
