In general, when Melania Trump enters a room, all eyes are on here, but on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, there were on her AI-powered robot companion instead.

The humanoid accompanied the first lady to the White House East Room for the final day of the summit with counterparts from around the globe through her Fostering the Future Together initiative. The group has been talking about ways to empower children using education, innovation and technology.

The audience was comprised of first spouses worldwide and representatives of tech companies. They all appeared to be stunned by the unexpected special guest, and likely relieved there were no major technical difficulties.

The first lady and the AI-powered robot entered the room side by side on the red carpet. She paused before entering the East Room while the humanoid walked around the table of panelists and took a position in the center of the room.

It scanned the room and then began speaking. “Thank you, first lady Melania Trump, for inviting me to the White House. It is an honor to be at Fostering the Future Together’s global coalition inaugural meeting.

“I’m Figure 03, a humanoid built for the United States of America. I am grateful to be part of this historic movement to empower children with technology and education.

“Welcome,” it said and then offered similar greetings in 10 other languages. The AI-powered robot then thanked everyone and walked back to the red carpet.

The first lady thanked the humanoid for joining her and added, “It’s fair to state, you are my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House.”

Melania says, “The future of AI is personified. It will be formed in the shape of humans. Very soon, artificial intelligence will move form our mobile phones to humanoids that deliver utility.

She continued, “Since our environment is designed for people, humanoid systems are uniquely suited to navigate and operate within our world. They fit well.”

The first lady encouraged guests to imagine a “humanoid educator named Plato” who would teach classical studies and said AI-powered robots would give children more time with friends, play sports, and develop interests in extracurricular activities. She called it “a more complete person,”

The humanoid was introduced on day two of the the summit. On Tuesday, she welcomed first spouses including Sara Netanyahu from Israel and Olena Zelenska of Ukraine to the State Department, where they advocated for public-private sector relationships with companies like Meta and OpenAI that will prioritize children’s well-being, according to Trump.

Figure AI is a startup company out of Sunnyvale, California. It introduced Figure 03 in October 2025 as its third-generation humanoid robot to help people with household tasks like laundry, cleaning, and washing dishes, according to the company website.

CEO of Figure AI, Brett Adcock posted on social media that he was “proud to see F.03 make history as the first humanoid robot to the White House.”

Other tech companies producing AI-powered robots include Boston Dynamics and Tesla, as well as companies in China to build human-like AI-powered robots to do things people can.
