The first official teaser trailer for the new HBO television adaptation of “Harry Potter” has dropped.
The logline reads: “There is nothing special about Harry Potter – at lease that’s what his Aunt Petunia always says. On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic. But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past.”

The teaser is loaded with quick shots of iconic locations, familiar faces, and beloved lines sure to delight fans.
Early reactions have been positive, even though some have complained about the lack of magic in the trailer. Fans have also noted the colour palette is much darker than the film.
The first season of the HBO series is titled: “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” and will premiere this Christmas. This is earlier than fans expected. Season one will be eight episodes.
The series will reimagine J.K. Rowling’s seven fantasy novels, adapting each book into a season, with showrunner Francesca Gardner (Succession) and producer Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones).
The entire production is expected to take 10 years to complete.
Harry Potter Cast
Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout will play the role of Ron. The supporting cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Cereus Snape.
Recently, Esseidu said he received racist death threats due to being cast as Professor Snape. These reveals the darker side of fantasy fandom.
This adds to the controversy as Rowling has received criticism over the upcoming series. She has repeatedly come under fire for comments about gender, with many accusing her of transphobia.
Many view the trailer’s release as a reminder of Rowling’s hateful comments and bemoan her involvement as executive producer in the new series.
Recently, Lithgow said he considered quitting the show over the backlash due to Rowling’s anti-trans views, but said he decided to stay. He describes the books as “clearly on the side of the angels, against intolerance and bigotry.”
