On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Boston Celtics‘ Head Coach Joe Mazzulla joined Zolak and Bertrand on Boston radio and was asked whether or not Jayson Tatum would be returning to the game on March 14. Mazzulla replied, “I don’t even know if I will be alive by then, I got to bed questionable… I wake up probable.”

Tatum Return

The Boston Celtics listed Tatum as available to play Friday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, a remarkable comeback from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in last year’s playoffs.

It was anticipated that the Celtics would take a step back this season due to Tatum’s injury, but instead, the team is second in the Eastern Conference. Now, they will add a six-time All-Star and five-time All-NBA player to the team that has won seven of its past nine games.

It was during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference, 10 months ago, that the star player incurred the injury.

It is expected there will be some restrictions for the player, but the Celtics play their next 12 games without any back-to-backs. The next game will be on March 29.

By then, the player should be able to gain some consistent reps on the court and build himself up ahead of the playoff push.

Last season, he averaged 26.8 points and 6.0 assists per game.

After Friday’s game against the Mavericks, the Celtics go on the road for three straight games against playoff contenders. On Sunday, they play Cleveland. San Antonia on Tuesday, and Oklahoma City on Thursday.
