Idol Tryouts Begin In June
By Dock Walls, @dockwalls
Now that the eleventh season of FOX’s American Idol has ended and Phillip Phillips has been crowned the winner, the next throng of Idol hopefuls are eager to begin the process. This includes many who will walk away from everything and travel hundreds of miles by car, bus, train or plane to camp out somewhere near the audition site. The cameras will roll as they make the most of their one shot at fame and fortune.
American Idol is a hit show that allows the American public to decide the winner. People can text their choices to numbers shown on the screen. In the most recent finals between Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips, 132 million votes were cast. By comparison, on November 4, 2008 131.3 million votes were cast in the U.S. Presidential election.
A Fox issued press release reveals the American Idol audition schedule for Season 12:
Thursday, June 7, 2012 – Los Angeles, California.
Saturday, June 23, 2012 – Newark, New Jersey
Thursday, July 12, 2012 – Chicago, Illinois
