Karl-Anthony Towns condition
You may have noticed that big man star Karl-Anthony Towns has not participated in any pre-season games. Towns spoke to the media about his weight is at 231. Towns listed NBA weight is 248. He talks about how his throat is very sore due to a throat infection. NBA fans are very appreciative of the precautions taken by the staff and the player. Now Towns never clarifies if this sickness was caused by COVID-19. Even though this is said it is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to sicknesses and diseases in general when it comes to the league.
Rudy Gobert did the unthinkable in 2020 causing a whole shutdown of the league because he was playing around about the seriousness of covid-19. Now no one knows who started the covid-19 outbreak in the league but it’s safe to say it was someone who was not taking the right precautions. The league was shut down for over a month for the right reasons. They did this for the players’ safety, staff safety, and the players’ families’ safety. The fans understand you Towns on why you had to take these days off to recover from the throat infection. Not having basketball, or any basketball news for a whole three months was painful.

NBA Bubble
Now the bubble was a very good idea on paper, making sure the players could play ball, while no worrying about contracting covid-19 and not spreading. Though overtime the players were starting to get tired of not seeing their families. That is understandable though, you imagine not seeing your kids for three months. The bubble also felt very strange. For the fact that when the NBA season was cut off during the middle 0f the season so teams been built that chemistry. With the quarantine they were not able to have that player connection. You can agree that playing with someone for a long period of time and than stopping for three months. You will for sure be rusty on your chemistry.
Continuing the Season
Still the NBA fans were grateful for what they were given in the short amount of time. Adam Silver really pulled a miracle off with the NBA bubble. It was very risky but the players followed to the safety precautions. No fans watchin in person was also very interesting being it was the first time the NBA has seen anything like that. That season was able to finish off with Los Angeles Lakers winning the 2020 NBA title. The whole year of 2020 was a roller coaster, having ups and very log steep downs.
All of this is important to remember because we want to learn from our past mistakes. Gobert understood very quickly that his 2020 actions were mistakes and to take any sickness very seriously. For the sake of his teammates, staff, and families of those working with the team. How the NBA handles these important events has an impact on how states deal with covid-19 as well. States knew right away that the quarantine was the right decision when it worked for the NBA. Having kids, and teens attend school virtually.
Virtual learning created safe environment for young students and teachers. Now being home everyday for five months can take a toll on a young minds health like it did for the NBA players. It is still the best way to make sure everyone stays safe through a pandemic. Again the NBA fans thanks towns for taking in the days away from basketball. Towns knows all he wants to do is get back on the court very soon but he knows the sacrifice he has to make to keep other safe.
