According to military officials, at least one rocket was launched from Gaza late on Thursday night. Currently, the Israeli Defense Forces are searching for location in which the rocket landed. It is unclear whether it rocket landed in Israel.
Air raid sirens went of in Sderot in the southern part of the country at around 9 p.m. on Thursday night, forcing individuals in the town to scramble to their bomb shelters. According to local reports, several residents in the town reported hearing explosions.
Over the past few months, the Islamic extremist group Hamas has been launching rockets into the nearby sea during insurgent exercises. People in the town around Gaza have reported hearing firing throughout this time. The town of Sderot has been a target for Hamas; as it is a strategic location near Gaza.
One week ago, Israel’s “Red Code” system identified a rocket that was fired into the country from Gaza. Though, the landing location has yet to be found. As a result of this, border crossings between Israel and Gaza have been closed.
