Chicago

Guardian Liberty Voice photojournalist Untrail D. Boyd reported that a female bicyclist collided with a police cruiser on Chicago’s West Side on June 15, 2016. The accident occurred around 7 p.m. CT at the intersection of Independence Ave. and Hamlin St.

According to Boyd, the police cruiser was not responding to a call at the time of the incident. Bystanders informed Boyd that the vehicle ran the light, which resulted in the accident.

Witnesses reported the female on the bicycle collided with the Chicago Police Department vehicle, whose lights and sirens were off, the woman was thrown from the bicycle and the bike slid underneath the police cruiser. The bicyclist was described as a Black female, however, further details about the woman were scarce. Her age was not released. Following the accident, the woman was transported to Chicago’s Mount Sinai Hospital via ambulance. Her condition is not known at this time.

The officer driving the police cruiser involved in the accident was uninjured. Currently, no other details about the officer are known.
