TMZ is reporting that Madonna is dropping $5 Million for her upcoming performance at the Billboard Music Awards.

Sources from the United Kingdom told the publication Madonna would pay for everything herself, with no monetary support from Billboard.

The Billboard Music Awards is scheduled to take place from the MGM in Las Vegas on May 1, 2019. Madonna has been in London rehearsing for the performance.

Madonna plans on having CGI and holograms, and her performance will last approximately seven minutes.

Madonna’s new song “Medellin,” the pop star’s first single since the worst selling album of her career did not open with gusto.

The BBC did not add the song to their rotation, Billboard did not chart the song on any mainstream charts, and it is rapidly falling off all iTunes charts in most countries.

Taylor Swift, who released her song “ME!” on April 26, after the release of Madonna’s “Medellin, opened on Billboard charted three days after the release of the song on three different Billboard charts.

Swift opened at:

Adult Contemporary Charts – No. 23
Pop Song Charts – No 20
Adult Pop Songs – No 14

Swift’s video for “ME!” which features Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie, broke the YouTube record of the most plays by a solo artist (which could have a featured artist singing on the song) in 24 hours after it was released.
